Re: I support the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
In response to the Public Notice regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, please find my representation below.
This is with respect to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 that was introduced in Lok Sabha on August 8, 2024 and stands referred to the JPC as on date and wherein suggestions and views have been solicited by the Committee.
As a responsible citizen of India, I believe it is imperative to ensure that our legal systems evolve in accordance with the changing dynamics of governance, accountability, and public welfare. After carefully reviewing the proposed Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, and considering the parliamentary discussions on this matter, I am convinced that the proposed amendment is a step in the right direction.
The reforms introduced in the Bill aim to strengthen the Waqf system, ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficient management of Waqf properties. This will benefit not only the Muslim community but the nation as a whole, as it seeks to safeguard valuable resources and prevent misuse or mismanagement.
As a believer in the principles of justice and good governance, I support the Government of India's initiative to update and improve the Waqf laws. These amendments will ensure that the system is in alignment with contemporary needs, while still respecting the religious and cultural sentiments associated with Waqf.
Therefore, I strongly urge the JPC to recommend the Bill to be passed in the Parliament, and the Government to proceed with the adoption of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, as it promises a positive impact on the management of Waqf properties and serves the larger public interest.
Yours sincerely,
